Titanium jewelry invaded The Oscars and Baseball Team

Oscar night is one of the biggest nights in Hollywood. For the elite in the movie industry this is not only the night where they award their own for excellence in cinema, but also show off their outfits and jewelry to their world.
At the Oscars men show off their look with exclusive tuxedos and subtle- well, usually at least- jewelry which adorn their hands, necks and, sometimes, ears.
During this time, Jeremy Renner was wearing one of those titanium rings which I've seen gaining in popularity in recent years. Renner's ring seemed pretty standard with its simple shape, and subtle design. Frankly, the only reason I probably noticed it was that one of my friend's husband's wears one as his wedding band. Renner is not married nor engaged so I'm guessing it's purely a style thing.
I've really become a fan of these titanium rings. At first I thought maybe it was a bit too "industrial" for something like a wedding band, but as time has gone on they have really started to grow on me. I've actually started looking into them for one of my friends who is getting married. She asked me what I thought she should get for the men's wedding band and I was happy to give her my opinion. She looked into it and was really impressed at what she found.

Phiten titanium necklaces, a new accessory trend, popular among some Major League Baseball players, may help to avoid fatigue and sore muscles. The necklaces are reputed to regulate the flow of energy throughout a body.

This efficient use of a body’s energy helps athletes tire less and recover quicker from strenuous exercise, according to the Phiten USA store’s Web site.

“Baseball players buy them like they are going out of style,” said Chris Miller, assistant manager of the West Side Hibbett’s Sports store. Hibbett’s sells necklaces, bracelets and shooting sleeves infused with titanium. The items range in price from $12 to $35.
Products with a higher concentration of titanium are available, but can become as expensive as $100 for a necklace. Many professional baseball players swear by them according to Phiten USA’s Web site, even though both doctors and scientists alike claim there is no proof.
The necklaces have garnered attention during the playoffs, as they've been worn by New York Yankees A.J. Burnett, Nick Swisher and Joba Chamberlain, among others.
Unlike other metal accessories with reported similar properties, titanium works not with magnets, but ions. Negative ions are believed to enhance mood and help battle depression, according to Web MD site.

Miller compared the sensation after wearing the necklace as similar to having vapor rub on your skin.

“It’s a very subtle difference, you’ll notice it more when you’re not wearing it,” Miller said.

Cindy Chao: Taiwanese-American designers bring the bling

Taiwanese jewellery designer CINDY CHAO burst onto the scene a few years ago with her unique, multidimensional works of fanciful art.

A hot topic in Hong Kong Sotheby’s auction was Cindy Chao’s Solstice bracelet from her 2010 Masterpiece collection which sold for 465,000 US dollars. The focal point of the piece is a 7.02 carat oval yellow diamond and the piece is filled with 5170 pieces of diamond in more than 30 colours. Cindy used her 360-degree sculptural skill to make every demand as shine as they can be. Cindy Chao has good reputation overseas, and her work “Royal Butterfly Brooch” was collected by The Smithsonian National Museum of History at the end of 2010.

Li Bing Bing is currently one of China’s best loved actresses. She starred in 1911,Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, and is due to act in Resident Evil: Retribution.
Li Bing Bing wore a stunning Georges Chakra white gown for the special night. The dress was teamed up with Cindy Chao’s 18kt white gold, pave diamond Maple Leaf Earrings and 18kt yellow gold, pave yellow and white diamond Flaming Floral Ruby cuff.

Li Bing Bing’s Lana Marks Diamond Cleopatra clutch cost a cool US$400,000. It has over 40 carat-sized diamonds embedded onto the top of the clutch and smaller diamonds were used to encrust her name on the front. No wonder Li was holding her clutch like a bomb.

Wife of Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and Chief Executive of News Corp. and owns portion of the Wall Street Journal.

She’s wearing “vintage couture and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry”. Wendi didn’t know the exact cost of her outfit but guessed the jewelry could cost anything between few hundred thousand to a couple million.

Wendi came with her close friend Li Bing Bing. Since their outfits clashed both in color and style, Wendi was literally running away from Li when she got too close. Looks like someone didn’t want to be photographed together…too bad she got caught in the end and became Li’s translator.

Wendi’s dress was very full on with it consisting of three different fabrics. Not a bad dress. However, she over accessorized with both the fluro pink purse and extravagant jewelry.  But god she looks great for someone in my mum’s generation.
Zhang Zi Yi

Zhang wasn’t invited to this year’s Academy Awards. Which is a big shame since she rocks up beautifully year after year. However, she was present at both the pre-party and after-party. Methinks it’s because of the backlash she’s receiving after sexy photos of her and her boyfriend on a beach went viral. Chinese netizens are quite conservative.

And more celebrities here:
 Chinese Hsu Chi

                           Sarah Jessica Parker
Hollywood's biggest stars are also glittering brightly with Cindy Chao The Art Jewel. Katie Holmes, the latest collector of Cindy's creations, was seen this week with the Maple leaf earrings in multi-colored diamonds. Earrings available exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman.

Rania of Jordan is a big fan of Cindy Chao

No doubt the popularity of her work will increase pressure on her to move to mass production, but not yet, not least because the curvature and asymmetry of her pieces don’t lend themselves to an assembly line. “I think the most beautiful jewellery was made in the 19th century, from 1830 to 1860,” says Chao. “At the time, they didn’t have machines or lasers. It’s not perfectly finished, but that’s the beauty of handmade. It’s the craftsmanship. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, but so far I’m happy that 100 percent of the Cindy Chao jewellery is still handmade and not machine made.”

Chanel Titanium Ceramic - Pure and Understand

Chanel has become synonymous with class and style. The Chanel J12 is a watch known for its beauty (sometimes decorated with tasteful diamonds), durability and function.

People who plan to buy a watch as a long term investment could not be completely satisfied with just an exceptional, timeless design and an extra-quality movement inside. They need strong guarantees that a watch will keep the same beauty for decades. When they come to Chanel’s ceramic, they can be pretty sure that not many watches have greater durability. That is why more and more high-end watchmakers experiment with ceramic, crafting entire watches or at least some components from this extremely tough material.

By offering a skillful blend of its classic ceramic and titanium that are together highly polished to create powerful reflections, emitting permanently changing sparkling points of light, Chanel has entered the unexplored world of amazing materials. Special polishing techniques that are exclusively applied on this material are inspired by processes using diamond powder, first developed for sapphires. With the new Chromatic line, the prestigious French watchmaker reinvented the classic J12 watches, giving them more fashionable and more desirable look which classifies these pieces among inevitable fashion items.

When the original Chanel J12 watch debuted in 2000, it really popularized ceramic in a big way. What was their secret? Simple really. Rado was always avant garde in their designs. While the watches had good guts, their designs prevented them from being too mainstream in the Western world. The J12 for was lack of a better term... a modified Rolex Submariner homage, with a classy dial in black or white ceramic. Finally a fit fashion watch with world appeal. This wasn't a crappy plastic watch that came in "fun colors." It was a well-made watch with a mechanical movement in a material that felt great. Still... if you wanted the durability that ceramic offered, you are more or less stuck with glossy black or white.

The 2011 Chanel J12 Chromatic will more or less mirror the other collections in sizes and variations. The larger model is the 41mm wide men's model that contains an ETA automatic movement. There is also a 38mm wide version with the same movement. This model will also have optional a baguette or round-cut diamond covered bezel (with matching diamond hour indicators).
Together the collection is not something that revolutionizes the Chanel J12 line, but is a further evolution in the concept and a step closer to ageless metal. I truly feel that in the near future when buying a high-end timepiece, part of that investment is the peace of knowledge that you new watch will remain visually outstanding for a long time.

Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

The definitive story of Hollywood’s most famous couple.
He was a tough-guy Welshman softened by the affections of a breathtakingly beautiful woman; she was a modern-day Cleopatra madly in love with her own mark Antony. for nearly a quarter of a century, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty, and their fiery romance—often called the marriage of the century—was the most notorious.

Drawing upon brand-new information and interviews—and on Burton’s private, passionate, and heartbreaking letters to Taylor—furious love sheds new light on the movies,  the scandal, the fame,  the brawls, the booze, the bitter separations, and, of course, the fabled jewels. it offers an intimate glimpse into Elizabeth and Richard’s privileged world and their elite circle of friends, among them princess grace. It provides an entertaining, eye-opening look at their films, their wildly lucrative reign in Europe and in Hollywood—and the price they paid for their extravagant lives.

Shocking and unsparing in its honesty, furious love explores the very public marriage of Liz and dick as well as the private struggles of Elizabeth and Richard, including le scandal, their affair on the set of the notorious epic Cleopatra that earned them condemnation from the Vatican; Burton’s hardscrabble youth in Wales; the crippling alcoholism that nearly destroyed his career and contributed to his early death; the medical issues that plagued both him and Elizabeth; and the failed aspirations and shame that haunted him throughout their relationship. as Kashmir and schoenberger illuminate the events and choices that shaped this illustrious couple's story, they demonstrate how the legendary pair presaged america's changing attitudes toward marriage, morality, and celebrity. yet ultimately, Elizabeth and Richard shared something priceless beyond the drama: enduring love.

Richard Burton died of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 58. The night he died, he mailed a letter to Elizabeth Taylor. In it, he said that he had always been happiest with her. Could he come home again? She received the letter after returning home from his funeral. She kept it in a drawer by her bed for the rest of her life.

Addictive and entertaining, furious love is an honest yet sympathetic portrait of a man, a woman, and a passion that shocked and mesmerized the world.

Celtic Tungsten Rings

The Celts were a group of people living thousands of years ago in the British Isles. Archaeological evidence supports their use of decorative knots to represent spiritual meaning on monuments.
